Onward to Alaska!

2020 Alaska Motorcycle Ride to Benefit SKI-HI

Prudhoe Bay! Valdez! Homer! Sitka! Anchorage! Fairbanks! Ride in bush mail plane! Mountains! Glaciers! Local food! Mom and Pop bakeries! What's not to like about this trip --- and all proceeds help families of deaf and/or blind babies who benefit from the work of the SKI-HI Institute across the country!

Forty-four motorcycle riders from across the country have registered so far for this 3-week ride on Mike Tuccelli’s website www.alaskabikerun.com. Each biker will be asked to make a donation to the SKI-HI Institute and some of them obtain pledge donations for SKI-HI from friends and family.If you wish to donate to this fundraiser for SKI-HI, mail your donation to: SKI-HI Institute 6500 Old Main Hill, Logan, UT 84321-6500 and a receipt will be sent to you.

Riders can sign up on the website above for the ride and will need to make reservations by July 2019 for many of the lodging stops along the way.The detailed schedule on the website has all the information needed to make reservations at suggested places to stay along the route. Below is a brief overview of the ride schedule and route.

Kickstands up from Georgie’s Diner in St. Augustine at 9 a.m. July 4, 2020!The group will travel north on US 441 through Georgia to Deals Gap, North Carolina.From there they will head to Columbus, Ohio; Grayling Michigan; Marathon, Ontario; Dryden, Ontario; Neepawa, Manitoba; North Battleford, Saskatchewan; Edmonton, AB; Fort St. John BC; Toad River BC; White Horse, Yukon; then Tok, Alaska.Estimated date of arrival in Alaska is July 13.

Based on Mike’s past experience half of the group go to Anchorage and the other half to Fairbanks. He plans to head for Fairbanks and take the 3-day drive/fly to Prudhoe Bay/Barrow and then go to Anchorage and view Sitka, Valdez, Homer, etc.

     By June 2020, the estimated 50 bikers will have already emailed back and forth and created their own bucket list route home in several smaller groups.Mike has said that quite a few bikers seem interested in taking the ferry to Washington State after Alaska. He is interested in making a return trip home via Logan, Utah (home of SKIHI) then up through the Badlands of the Dakotas.
